New stuff

New stuff new stuff

I edited together a video of the Medieval festival Julie and I attended in France. Here ya go.

New Gallery uploads: Julie took some pictures at English Camp. Also, I’m uploading some more pictures from France which Julie took with her camera. Julie’s Camera.

Maori

When Rob gave his presentation about New Zealand at camp, he demonstrated the traditional Maori greeting with a camper.

Both participants touch noses. The younger person exhales through the nose, and the elder inhales. Then the elder exhales through the nose and the younger in turn inhales. In doing so, the younger party extends his vitality to the elder and then the elder in turn extends wisdom to the younger.

Thus, it is a great honor in Maori custom to greet elders.

TOo loud in here

It’s too loud in here.

And because Youbube is apparently overwhelmed right now, I put it up on Google videos instead:

Armour of the Gods

Armor of the Gods?

Toph sent me the link.

At first glance, I’d have to say that is one crazy looking little boy. But then again, why not? I must admit, at the age of 13, I was still building fortresses out of sofa cushions to my mother’s perpetual dismay. How rad would it be to have pjs that resemble a suit of armor, complete with a shield pillow and a helmet styled after ca. 15th century knights? It’s to help me sleep, dammit. But there is a problem here…

sausage automaton

A short clip from the Automaton Museum in La Rochell from a few weeks back. Shudder.

Live stuff

For your listening displeasure, I’m uploading mp3s of Dude Dude Chick’s concert at the Insel Im Hecht festival last weekend. HERE.

This was recorded by Rob Tyson, who also did the videos, on a tiny little portable digital recorder. The sound is somewhat clipped here and there, but it’s there warts and all.

Back from Magdeburg

Back from Magdeburg and boy do I feel tired. Gig accomplished. I have a few photos to upload tomorrow, I guess.

Rob is now also back from camp — I left a day early on account of the gig — and he gave me some great news.

In the final competition, the fairy tale sketches, my group won first place! Buttons burst off my shirt when I heard that news.

Creepy PJs

Toph headsed up me to this link here which sold ARMOR OF GOD PJs ™

The site claims that God told him or her to make and sell PJs on the internet just like Granny made them put on whilst reading Ephesians 6 so that they wouldn’t be scared when they went to bed.

Ephesians is a bit hazy in the memory banks so I looked the verses up:

Hecht Fest Dude Dude Chick Video

Back again from camp and don’t I feel great. As it turned out, there was an opportunity for Julie to come along as an extra child minder. That was groovy, because it was like a weeklong extension on our last day together before she returned again to France for a few weeks to take care of some business.

The kids were by the other colleagues “the best group all year”. Rob did a presentation about New Zealand and one child asked eagerly about whether the animals (kiwis, kakapos, opossums) were tasty. They were very receptive to Julie’s presentation about France and we all learned a little French to boot. She taught them the refrain of Aisha. They loved the song, and all the lads had a huge crush on her. I brought my axe and taught them Wagon Wheel, which they also loved to sing. Over and over and over.

Videos were made, which I hope to share as soon as they come my way in a while, but for now I only have the videos that Robert Tyson of Macon took of our last gig at the Hecht Fest last weekend. This one is Wagon Wheel, preceded by a short clip of our homage to the 70’s TV show Emergency. It should be noted that at Camp, however, in the third verse I “had a nice long joke“.

Dresden Rap

A little Dresden humor. Hip-hop with the Dresdner dialect. tee hee.
