Scream Engine IV — EGA is BACK

Picking up where the Bros. Chapps started.

Feed theKitty

I noticed an older post on Bangazee, a blog about kids’ animation authored by Gred MCleod of the most awesome Brothers MCleod:

Yesterday I went on a Masterclass with Frank Gladstone at Aardman. He’s worked for Disney and Dreamworks and the like and one of the things he showed us was this cartoon, which is beautifully drawn, structured and has the most excellent timing. The dog’s name is also fantastic… Mark Anthony. Who calls their dog Mark Anthony? Brilliant!

I think this has always been one of my favorites since early childhood, but besides that it’s a great cartoon in almost every way.

Tektonik Apreciation hour

tIt’s a dance craze that infected French kids about a year or so ago. It has a little bounce to it, but it’s the flashy rubberband-like arm movements that give its distinct appeal. 70’s disco Soul Train, 80’s breakdancing. Poofy hightops, tight jeans. Mullets. This is Tektonik (cue music). (more…)

Whistle, Plunk

Hip, modern stylized design. Killer design.

Snow White

I can’t say enough about this animated short. It’s probably my favorite Betty film, and pretty much highlights everything that was terrific in those old rubber hose cartoons.
It doesn’t really do much of a job in telling the actual fairy tale, it’s more of just a backdrop for the films zaniness.
There is a stream of utterly hallucenogenic gags, and suddenly a little Cab Calloway feature — rotoscoped right into the film as Koko — full of hot jazz and cool dance moves.

You can watch it below:

The Egg — the Video

The Egg — day nine and ten

Did I mention we have pigeon eggs on the window sill? Yeah? Well, they are still there.

April in Paris

Unfortunately, it’s not been the best of Aprils this Paris. There have been some real beauts, but most days were still pretty bleak looking, methinks.

This has put a damper on my April in Paris video that I’ve been working on, or rather, not been working on. Is it too cliche to make an April in Paris video? I think so too.

In other news

I have upgraded the ole browser to the new beta 3. Why not? And now, two issues that have been buggin’ seem to be gone: no more sluggish playback on streaming videos, and Scribefire is working properly again. Yay. Although I don’t think it is necessarily the new version that fixed those problems; I think perhaps it was just thanks to a clean installation.

Other bugs have crept into my life, though: I Premiere Pro has stopped using Flash movs, so I can’t make those nice effects like in the Stuffies video. And also: what the hell is wrong with my gallery?
