Obama Hat Gewonnen!
Since I had been up all night, I could hardly contain myself.
MY first Impulse was to rush into my host’s bedroom and jump on their bed and shout “aw crap! McCain frickin won!”
But in the last minute I fortunately pulled myself together.
My second impulse was to run out into the street and shout, “Obama!”. But there was no one out there. I did that anyway.
My third impulse was to run down to Albertplatz and jump up and down in the fountains and shout “Yay, Obama”, but still, not many people were around.
So, I just walked down to the tramstop, and I said to everyone, “Obama hat gewonnen!”.
The first person, a tall shaven headed fellow, politely answered, “Iss doch schees egal”. I nodded and moved on.
The second was an older lady, who pretended to ignore me. “Obama hat gewonnen!” said I, and she smiled, and said, “uh huh”.
The third was a younger lady, who was totally looking way way the other way. “Obama hat gewonnen!” she turned and smiled and said, “yeah, I just saw that on the TV”.
The fourth was a lanky student looking type with glasses. “Barack hat gewonnen!” At first he said nothing. But then he said, “Oh, so they did an official confirmation of the electoral vote?” “Umm… Yeah?” said I. “Oh, thanks for the news then” he said sarcastically.
